
The novel coronavirus has exacerbated racial issues and inequalities that have long been present and have had enormous impact on Black-owned SMBs.

VH1 hoped to go beyond Black Ink Brooklyn’s storyline they wanted to actually support other local, black-owned businesses in the neighborhood. The focus of the 9th season was a newly reopened tattoo studio in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, the theme was inspiring: “Black in Business.”

The season premiere of VH1’s hit reality TV show “ Black Ink Crew” was right around the corner, and VH1 wanted to do something special after the crushing Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020.
